The above question is a very important question.  It requires a honest answer.  Your answer must be based on Biblical teaching, not personal thinking.

Eternal Life Comes Only Through Jesus Christ:
I John 5:12
He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

If you do not know Jesus Christ as your
personal Saviour you are separated from God.

Sin Separates us From God

What Is Sin:
James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

God is Holy and Perfect . . . and we are not. Sin not only means doing wrong or failing to do all that God wants. Sin is also ignoring or rejecting God. Because God is Holy, He cannot accept our sin.

Who Has Sinned:
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

This means we all have miss the mark of God’s perfection. We all have done things that are wrong, if it is not right it is sin.

What Happens When We Sin:
Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

Romans 6:23  The wages of sin is death...

Sin causes a gap between God and us. (See above illustration) Death, in this verse means eternal separation from God, This is the penalty for our sin.

Only Through Jesus Christ Can You Have
A Personal Relationship With God

Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to God:

John 14:6 Jesus saith...., I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us...

Ephesians 2:8,9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

  • It is only through Jesus Christ that we can have a relationship with God.
  • If we could receive salvation through parents, works, living right, baptism, or even religion, there would have been no need for Jesus to come and die for us.

Why Did Jesus Christ Have To Die:
I Peter 3:18  For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

2 Co 5:21  For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

You must personally respond by
trusting Jesus Christ as Your Savior

You respond with Faith (Trust) In Christ:
Ephesians 2:8,9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

You respond by Repentance (Turning To God From Sin):
Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out...

You respond by Receiving Jesus Christ:
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God...

Five Steps To Receiving Jesus Christ

  1.  You must first believe in God.
 2.  You must understand that You are a sinner.
 3.  You must understand that Your sins have separated You from God.
 4.  You must believe that the death of Jesus Christ Paid your entire sin debt.
 5.  You must ask God to forgive you and accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour.

Many people have done the first four things above. However, a person will remain lost until he does number five. Jesus told a very religious man in the Bible that believed in God, "You must be born again or you will never see the Kingdom of God. John 3:1-7
